THE ACTOR'S MINDSET
Hosted by Amanda Rischel

My project (1).png

Are you a recent graduate or new actor who feels unsure about how to move forward in the industry?

Do you feel overwhelmed and worried about whether you’re using your time effectively?

Do you struggle with creating structure and staying on track?

Does it feel like everything is out of your control?

You are not alone!

Being a self-employed actor comes with unique challenges that result in many actors

feeling disempowered, frustrated, or doubting themselves.

By working on our mindset, we can find strategies to mitigate these challenges, realize how much -

thankfully- remains within our control, and find solace in that we’re all facing similar struggles.

Through guided exercises and strategies, this two-part course aims to help you rediscover the joy of

acting and leave you empowered and excited to take on your next steps in your own way.

The Actor's Mindset - Level 1

This foundational level focuses on how to navigate the unique challenges of life as a self-employed

creative which often leaves actors feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and paralyzed by choice.

The aim of Level 1 is to help you get “unstuck” and re-energized by introducing strategies and guided

exercises which help you:

 - take stock of your current situation with an objective perspective,

 - work towards ensuring that all aspects of your life are supporting your acting career,

 - get clear on what success as an actor means to you

 - identify and focus on what is within your control

 - reverse engineer your acting dreams into actionable tasks

 - set a clear direction for yourself to move forward

 - prioritise your time and know when to pivot

The course is designed to be accessible to graduates or those early in their career, but the content and

exercises can be beneficial to anyone looking to create a system for themselves to identify focus areas,

create an actionable plan for pursuing their career goals, and prioritise between tasks.

The Actor's Mindset - Level 2

This intermediate level builds on the lessons and exercises from Level 1 to focus on finding more

resilience, work-life balance, and structure in your life as a self-employed actor.

Level 2 offers strategies and guided exercises that will allow you to:

 - create daily routines and timetables to help separate work and rest time

 - map out your goals for the next quarter to keep you on track

 - create self-care rituals to help soothe yourself when needed

 - take inspiration from cyclical living to work with your natural energy levels

 - find strategies for dealing with common challenges such as overwhelm, “slow periods”, and

imposter syndrome

The course is designed to be accessible to graduates or those early in their career, but the content and

exercises can be beneficial to anyone looking to build resilience, ensure work-life balance, and create

structure. Completing Mindset for Actors – Level 1 first is recommended, as Level 2 builds on that

foundation.
